Yuliia LUSHCHYK is an expert/consultant/researcher/teacher in the project.

Yuliia LUSHCHYK is Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences (PhD in Education), Associate Professor, Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages, SNAU. Her teaching and research experience is more than 20 years. She has had about 45 publications. A number of publications relate to intercultural communication in general and sociocultural and intercultural aspects of foreign language teaching in higher education in particular and are indexed in international scientific and metric databases, including Scopus and Web of Science.

Yuliia LUSHCHYK has been teaching the subjects “Ukrainian as a foreign language” for international students of the preparatory department and students of the 1-4th courses of all faculties; “Profound foreign (English) language”, “Foreign (English) language (Selective component)”.

She significantly contributes to the thorough development of the EUSELENA project life cycle, including all project activities from the initial phase to project implementation.

Yuliia LUSHCHYK’s practical teaching with international and Ukrainian students ensures the implementation of intercultural and sociocultural approaches in EUSELENA project activities, taking into account the features of modern multicultural society, communication formats that circulate in modern media, etc.

The acquired teaching experience allows her to see the strengths of the developed educational programs, as well as to determine the critical directions for improving the teaching of foreign (English) and Ukrainian as a foreign language through the content broadening and introduction of media literacy topics and taking into account the leading experience of the European Union in this field.

Yuliia LUSHCHYK, together with Maryna BILOTSERKOVETS and Tetiana FOMENKO, is engaged in the elaboration of psychological and pedagogical questionnaires for the participants of the EUSELENA project with the involvement of psychologists with the aim of timely adjustment of work on the project, the best implementation of each activity, achieving a balance between the teaching and learning approaches and project goals, overcoming communicative barriers etc. In particular, the specified research group develops and conducts the online “Questionnaire on students’ media usage and needs in the field of media literacy” to analyze learners’ relevant educational requests, determine the purpose and objectives of the courses, outline activity strategies, prepare resources and take into account the received data when creating syllabi.

Thus, as a member of the methodic and pedagogical group within the EUSELENA project, Yuliia LUSHCHYK takes an active part in the development of the Ukrainian-language course for international students and the English-language course for Ukrainian students, namely “BASIC EU MEDIA LITERACY PRACTICES FOR THE FORMATION OF STUDENTS’ CRITICAL THINKING IN THE CONTEXT OF LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE” based on traditional and innovative methods of learning and teaching conducting approbation and performance of relevant courses.

Yuliia LUSHCHYK is a co-author of Maryna BILOTSERKOVETS and Tetiana FOMENKO for compiling teaching and learning resources planned for the EUSELENA project, in particular: “Major EU media literacy practices in fostering students’ critical thinking in the context of foreign language training”, as well as a set of tests for current and final evaluation of acquired knowledge within the scope of studying the course.

Yuliia LUSHCHYK and Tetiana FOMENKO are in charge of running the EUSELENA information channel in Telegram, which aims to promote the project and its stages to the broadest public, encourage interest in studying the EU experience in media literacy, initiate discussion of important issues related to the functioning of modern media, manipulation of information, countering disinformation, etc.

Due to many years of experience in scientific work and performing duties as a reviewer of the specialized English-language scientific journal “Educational Challenges”, Yuliia LUSHCHYK has mastered the theoretical and methodological toolkit and competencies for analysis, assessment and dissemination of project activities at the appropriate level.
