INCREASING THE RESULTS OF THE SECOND DAY OF THE “RETHINK WASTE WEEK” PROJECT

The second day of the “Rethink Waste Week” project as part of the “Production and dissemination of circular economy ideas in accordance with the EU Action Plan” program was marked by the completion of waste paper collection within the walls of the Sumy National Agrarian University.

The joint efforts of students, teachers and employees of Sumy National University of Technology managed to collect more than a ton of paper waste. Later, all waste paper will be sold to recycling centers. The withdrawn funds will be used to meet the needs of soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Collecting waste paper is a necessary task for the preservation of ecology and the natural environment. It has been proven that one ton of collected paper can save 17-20 trees from being cut down. In addition, through repeated processing, we reduce emissions of toxic substances from pulp and paper mills and factories into the air and water.

For proper sorting of paper waste, we advise you to use the following rules:

1. The paper must be clean of any type of contamination.
2. The collected material should occupy as little space as possible.
3. Recycled paper products (for example, egg trays), mixed packaging (Tetra Pak, Pure Pak), store receipts and transport tickets, as well as laminated and household paper are not recyclable.
Join the sorting and recycling of garbage! Let’s save the planet together!

Our week – rethink waste!
