NEW TOOLKIT RELEASED TO PROMOTE DIVERSITY REPRESENTATION AND OVERCOME STEREOTYPES IN MEDIA

A new toolkit has been launched to promote diversity representation and combat stereotypes in the media. The toolkit, created under the Erasmus+ project Jean Monnet Module “EU strategies extrapolation for boosting students’ media literacy in Ukrainian HE,” consists of a program and a handbook titled “DIVERSITY REPRESENTATION: OVERCOMING STEREOTYPES.”

It is aimed at foreign language students and lecturers. The initiative’s primary goal is to increase awareness of the European Union media space, encourage best practices in media literacy, foster democratic societies, and empower individuals to succeed.

The toolkit is a practical guide that enables young people to improve their media literacy through training sessions. It provides a deeper understanding of how the media operates, why stereotypes persist, how decisions are made, and why diverse representation is essential in media content. The objective of this initiative is to foster greater inclusivity and equitable communication on social media while encouraging critical consumption of media content, leading to a more diverse and tolerant society.
