TRAINING FOR EDUCATORS ON MEDIA LITERACY AT THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, SNAU

On March 13, 2025, the Department of Foreign Languages at Sumy National Agrarian University (SNAU) hosted a training session titled: “METHODOLOGICAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EDUCATORS OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS REGARDING STUDENTS’ MEDIA LITERACY.”

This event served as a valuable platform for discussing the key aspects of implementing a grant-funded course on media literacy at SNAU. It focused on teaching methodology, learning resources, and innovative educational approaches.

Key speakers at the training included:  Assoc. Prof. Marina Bilotserkovets, Assoc. Prof. Yuliia Lushchyk, Assoc. Prof. Tetiana Fomenko.

Marina Bilotserkovets introduced the overall concept of the project, outlining its goals, objectives, scientific foundations, and informational support. Additionally, she shared the latest research findings on developing media literacy in higher education.

Yuliia Lushchyk concentrated on the teaching and methodological toolkit designed by the project team. Her presentation covered the syllabus and handbook, which provide structured and comprehensive support for educators integrating media literacy into their courses.

Tetiana Fomenko elaborated on the practical implementation of the course, discussing the stages of integration, recent updates in teaching strategies, and specific challenges and opportunities when working with students.

The training session encouraged active discussions, fostering an exchange of best practices and identifying future directions for enhancing media literacy education at SNAU.
