THE INITIAL DATA COLLECTION AND INFORMATION PROCESSING  ON STUDENTS’ MEDIA USAGE AND NEEDS IN THE FIELD OF MEDIA LITERACY

In the context of the project “EU strategies extrapolation for boosting students’ media literacy in Ukrainian HE”, THE QUESTIONNAIRE ON STUDENTS’ MEDIA USAGE AND NEEDS IN THE FIELD OF MEDIA LITERACY has been held.

The purpose of the questionnaire is to collect reliable data on students’ self-assessment of their media literacy level and their attitude to the perspective introduction of a course on media literacy and critical thinking in general and media literacy learning in the context of a foreign language acquisition at higher education institutions.

The questionnaire, in particular, touches on such issues as revealing the types of preferable media resources, the way of media content selection, approaches to assessing the credibility of information, and changes related to media consumption under the conditions of a full-scale Russian military invasion and the influence of propaganda and disinformation.

Students and other interested individuals can join the questionnaire in Ukrainian or English at the relevant links.

The questionnaire is voluntary and does not collect any personal data.

Processing the collected data is an essential step in project implementation. It provides valuable information and contributes to developing high-quality scientific and methodological tool-kits to ensure the appropriate level of teaching for the purpose of elaborating students’ critical thinking.
