“Towards circular economy thinking & ideation in Ukraine according to the EU action plan”

EU funding instrument: EU-funded ERASMUS+ Programme, Jean Monnet, with the support of the European Neighbourhood Instrument

Target groups: academic staff, scientists, young researchers, students, pupils, business representatives, active citizens, NGO representatives, policy makers.

The project overall objective is to enhance circular economy thinking & ideation in Ukraine in accordance with the EU action plan for the Circular Economy.

Specific objectives:

  1. To provide the educational content on a circular economy with high-quality textual materials and videos.
  2. To impulse ideation towards searching for solutions contributing to a circular economy.
  3. To intensify research activities and discussion in the area of a circular economy in Ukraine.
  4. To strengthen cooperation between Western Europe universities and Ukrainian universities.
  5. To foster exchange and share experience dealing with circular economy solutions.
  6. To support the consolidation of academic and business efforts to advance pro-circular initiatives.
  7. To promote more circular consumption alternatives and popularize the best European practices.

Project activities:

  1. Holding the first in Ukraine the “Plastic challenge Hackathon 2021”, dealing with a plastic waste challenge in response to the EU plastics strategy.
  2. Training of the project team staff to develop the “Circular Economy e-learning course” for Ukrainian learners.
  3. Design and developing an open “Circular Economy e-learning course” based on the state of the art materials and educational digital resources.
  4. Design and production of educational digital stories and videos for teaching, learning and research purposes.
  5. Researches conducted on contemporary circular economy issues with research visits.
  6. Publication of Handbook, monograph, original articles, and conference papers with a focus on circular economy content.
  7. Holding seminars across Ukrainian universities to promote circular economy achievements and progress.
  8. Holding the “Rethink Waste Week” including the thematic debate, competition, and awareness-raising campaign.
  9. Design and production of the package of media and promotional products for project-related events.

Expected results:

  1. The open Circular economy e-learning course to comply with European norms and standards.
  2. Digital stories and educational videos on the circular economy theme.
  3. Handbook, monograph, original articles, and conference papers.
  4. New circular solutions as a result of the Ukrainian Plastic challenge Hackathon 2021.
  5. New circular ideas as a result of the “Rethink Waste Week”.
  6. Package of media and promotional products.
  7. Materials of research meetings abroad and seminars on the circular economy in Ukraine.

The project impacts:

  1. Dissemination of the European vision of the circular economy and best practices in Ukraine.
  2. Dissemination of knowledge and experience dealing with circular economy implementation.
  3. Enhancing the educational content on a circular economy in Ukraine.
  4. Ideation impulse to realize the circular economy.
  5. Promotion of circular consumption and behaviours alternatives.
  6. Start-ups on plastics initiatives driving the circular economy.
  7. Strengthening the academic discussion in the area of circular economy in Ukraine.
  8. Strengthening cooperation between Western Europe universities and Ukrainian universities.
